Lewis Taylor will return to the Brisbane Lions senior side when they take on Fremantle this Sunday at Optus Stadium.
This will be Taylor’s third AFL game this year, after playing in the side’s Round 6 and 7 victories.
In recent weeks the small forward has been dominating for the Club’s undefeated NEAFL side. In their Round 6, 14 goal win, over the Canberra Demons, Taylor had 35 disposals and kicked one goal.
Taylor will start on the interchange bench, alongside Mitch Hinge, Ryan Lester and Josh Walker.
Senior Coach Chris Fagan told media this morning that the team were looking forward to a tough road trip ahead.
“We’re actually not a bad side on the road,” Fagan said.
“We look forward to the opportunity to travelling together.
“We know this is a tough road trip, it’s a tough as it gets.
“It’s a long time on the plane, hostile crowd, fortunately enough we experienced that last year against Freo so we know the environment we’re walking into.”
Sunday’s game will mark 50 AFL games for Hugh McCluggage who is in his third season.
“He got to that pretty quickly,” Fagan said.
“They’re often the toughest so hopefully he’ll benefit from all those early experiences he’s had and go on from strength to strength.”
The pair arrived at the Lions together in late 2016 and Fagan said it has been fantastic to watch McCluggage’s progression to become such a respected footballer.
“He’s developed massively from the skinny 72kg lad, to 83/84 kilos now, confident, great ball winner, smart player, excellent person, he’s always been that.”
The Lions will host an open training session at Optus Stadium in Perth at 3:30pm on Saturday 25 May.
