The past month has been quite the culture shock for Daniel McStay, who has relocated from his family home in the eastern suburbs of Victoria to the warmer Brisbane climate.

But the 18-year-old says a warm welcome from his new teammates has helped make the transition an easy one.

“(The heat) is definitely a big change – it’s almost 30 degrees every day – but I’m looking forward to getting used to this weather,” McStay told LIONS TV during an interview with Brent Moloney.

“It’s great for summer, and apparently winter’s pretty good too.”

McStay is currently living with some of his fellow teenage draftees – including former VIC Metro teammate Tom Cutler – but will move into more a more permanent living arrangement early in the New Year.

“It’s been really good, all the guys have been great in bringing us together and making us feel welcome,” he said.

He also revealed that fellow defender Matt Maguire and Patrick Wearden have played a big role in helping him settle into the Club.
