Brisbane born and bred players Harris Andrews and Eric Hipwood are determined for the Lions to win the battle of Queensland on Saturday afternoon at the Gabba against an under-sieged Suns outfit.
Lions stars Harris Andrews and Eric Hipwood were on top of Brisbane City yesterday, standing tall on the Story Bridge ahead of the 14th Q-Clash this weekend.
For both, it was their first time climbing the iconic Queensland landmark and admit they’re not the best with heights.
“It was a little bit nerve-wracking but it was alright once we got to the top,” Hipwood said.
At the highest peak, the pair were 80 metres above ground and on a perfect Brisbane morning, the views didn’t disappoint.
“Yeah very exciting, first time up there and to see the city from that angle was really exciting,” Andrews said.
“It was fantastic, you could see the whole city from there and I would recommend everyone doing it,” Hipwood said.
With views of the Gold Coast in the far distance, Saturday’s game was not far from mind for the statuesque pair.
The Lions claimed the first Q-Clash scalp in Round 1 this year and will be hunting for a double on Saturday afternoon.
“It is a bit of a rivalry. Both teams want to be the best team in Queensland,” Hipwood said.
Andrews says the two sides often draw comparisons because both have a young, developing roster.
“Certainly, we sort of look at ourselves like the Gold Coast as teams that are on the rise,” he said.
