The inaugural W Awards were held in Melbourne tonight to celebrate the successful AFL Women's season.
Brisbane Lions Women's team Captain Emma Zielke attended that event at Docklands with fellow team mates Tayla Harris, Sabrina Frederick-Traub, Emily Bates, Kate McCarthy, Kaitlyn Ashmore, Sam Virgo.
In its first year, The W Awards celebrates the achievements of the season as a whole as well as individuals who have excelled throughout the season in particular, the AFL Women's Best and Fairest.
This year, five Lions were named in the 2017 Virgin Australia All Australian team.
Emily Bates, Sabrina Frederick-Traub, Kate McCarthy, Tayla Harris and Sam Virgo were named in the team while earlier last week, Emma Zielke, Jessica Wuetschner, Leah Kaslar and Kaitlyn Ashmore were named in the inital squad.

19-year-old Tayla Harris earlier nominated for the Woolworths Mark of the Year for her pack mark in Round 2 v Fremantle however, missed out to Carlton's Darcy Vescio.
Speedster Kate McCarthy and fellow midfielder Kaitlyn Ashmore were also nominated for the Coates Hire Goal of the Year after their incredible goals mid-season yet were unfortunately pipped at the post by Crows star Erin Phillips.
Other awards presented include; the NAB AFL Women's Rising Star, AFL Women's Leading Goalkicker Award, Woolworths Mark of the Year, Coates Hire Goal of the Year and Virgin Australia AFL Women's All Australian Team.
