Brisbane Lions Head of Medical Peter Blanch confirmed Sam Skinner’s ACL rupture will require surgery and take another ten months of recovery.
Skinner was injured during the fourth quarter of the NEAFL side’s win over GWS Giants on Saturday.
“Sam’s had some problems with the ACLs in his left knee. He’s had two knee reconstructions in his left knee. He worked very hard to get back from those and unfortunately he popped the ACL in his right knee,” Blanch said.
The promising defender, who made his AFL debut in Round 19 against West Coast, will go into surgery next week.
“It will take about nine to ten months from the day of surgery to when he’s back, fully available to play.”

Meanwhile, Dayne Beams and brother
Alex Witherden was strong in his return from a hamstring injury, but Jarrod Berry could be an omission, as his foot continues to trouble him.
“We’re not over the line with Jarrod. We’re still trying to get him up. But it’s unclear where he’s up to yet.”
Blanch also provided an update for supporters of Jack Frost who suffered a concussion earlier in the NEAFL season. Frost returned after his knock, but after developing post-concussion symptoms, the team decided to rest him for the remainder of the season.
“He’s been tested by a number of different specialists, and their advice is we keep Jack going quietly this year.”
It’s believed Frost will be fit and firing for the 2018 season.
