Logging in to check my AFL Dream Team on Monday morning topped off what was an amazing weekend.

First there was the great win against the Western Bulldogs, which was followed by an inspiring night at the Club’s inaugural Hall of Fame function at Crown.

A season-best performance by the Polka Specials was just the icing on the cake.

My boys scored 1,867 points, which might not have been my highest total for the season, but it was my most complete performance considering there were only six matches played due to the Bye Round.

My score was the 9th highest of any team in the Lions League for the Round, and was 1,017th (out of almost 300,000) out of the entire competition.

If my maths are correct - that puts me in the top 0.4% of all teams in Round 13.

I even scored 200 points more than the all-conquering LeueyLongerCombo who still sits at the top of the Lions League ladder - on which I’ve rocketed up 40 places to sit a more respectable 276th.

Once again, I have Jack Redden to thank for my rise from the ashes.

Reddo has been an automatic Captain choice for me over the past month or two, and delivered another 120+ points to justify his selection.

He was also honoured by the AFL’s Dr Dream Team (who I follow closely) for his efforts by being inducted into the 2012 Dream Team Hall of Fame.

I guess it was kind of appropriate timing considering we celebrated the Club’s first ever Hall of Fame last Saturday night.

But as good as Jack was, Tom Rockliff was just a little bit better. 40 disposals and two goals helped Rocky to a team-high 141 points. That also proved enough to give him the most point of any Lions player for the 2012 season so far - edging past Redden by only two points.

I might just make that little fact known to both those fellas this week. It might help spur them on to big ones against the Demons this Sunday.

POLKS’ TIP FOR THE WEEK

I generally seem to pump out my Lions boys a bit (Redden, Rockliff, Golby, Zorko), but I thought I would also give due recognition to the players I have from the GWS Giants.

James McDonald, Adam Treloar and Taylor Adams are among the ones who have served me very well lately, but there’s another one in Shaun Edwards who made me a lazy $35,000 over the weekend.

He’s still pretty cheap at just a touch over $160K and will probably be a good option for the second half of the year if you’re looking for a well-priced defender.
