It's been a week of drama on the Gold Coast, but Chris Fagan says he hasn't paid any attention whatsoever.

The Brisbane Lions Senior Coach said Saturday night's QClash was a 50-50 contest no matter who was coaching the rival Suns.

Gold Coast sacked Rodney Eade earlier in the week, instating Dean Solomon as an interim coach, and will be without injured stars Gary Ablett, Tom Lynch and Pearce Hanley, who withdrew on Friday morning with a hamstring injury, at the Gabba.

But Fagan says none of that concerns him.

He's more focused on preparing the Lions to take another step forwards.

"I'm not really worried about it," Fagan said of Gold Coast's dramas.

"Our focus has been on how we're playing, and that's been the case for us all year, especially since the bye.

"We can't control what's happened down there this week, that's Gold Coast's issue.

"We've just got to make sure we turn up in the right frame of mind to play as well as we can."

Fagan will have fond memories of playing the SUNS, after his Lions unleashed a blistering opening quarter to the season in the teams' clash earlier this year.

The Lions have six new faces from the round one victory, while the SUNS have eight – plus Solomon.

"I don't know Dean at all well, I just know him as a player," Fagan said.

"He's as good a competitor as you'll ever see, so no doubt he'll have his team coming out tomorrow night competing hard.

"It's a 50-50 game regardless of whether 'Rocket' is coaching them or someone else, so that's what we've prepared for."

Still one game plus percentage behind Carlton and North Melbourne, Fagan said the Lions were desperate to get off the bottom.

With matches against the SUNS, Melbourne and North Melbourne to come, he said destiny was largely in their own hands.

"We want to finish off strongly," he said.

"If we don't win tomorrow night it's not the be all and end all … we've made significant improvements in the second half of the year."

Earlier on Friday, the Lions announced that tough defender Nick Robertson had extended his contract with the team until the end of the 2019 season.

The West Australian, Brisbane's 34th pick in the 2013 AFL Draft, has played 44 games since his debut in round 4, 2014, and has played 18 of 19 matches this season.

Robertson joins Tom Cutler, Jarrod Berry, Josh Schache, Harris Andrews, Ben Keays and Sam Skinner as recent Lions to have re-signed.
