Andrew Wellington is the new Brisbane Lions Chairman, after being appointed at the Club’s Annual General Meeting earlier this evening.
Wellington will take the reins from departing Chairman Bob Sharpless, who has held the position since 2013.
A partner of PWC Australia since 2003, Wellington, a long time Brisbane Bears and Lions fan, has assisted the Club in recent years as a Finance Director. In 2016, he was appointed Deputy Chairman.
CEO Greg Swann welcomed Wellington and thanked Sharpless for his commitment to the Club.
“Bob advised the Board earlier in the year that he would step down. Bob was an outstanding Chairman during a challenging period in the Club’s history. We know he won’t be a stranger to the Club and look forward to welcoming him back to the Gabba next year,” Swann said.
“Andrew has been a key part of the finance committee and this year the football sub-committee. I have no doubt he will continue on the path that the board members have recently set.”
All seven fellow board members were re-elected for the 2018 season.
Sarah Kelly has been appointed Deputy Chairman.
