Selina Goodman’s selection by the Brisbane Lions in last year’s inaugural AFL Women’s Draft was a dream come true.
Goodman relocated from Cairns to the Gold Coast last January to pursue an opportunity with the Coolangatta Bluebirds and put her name on the radar of clubs across the country.
“I couldn’t believe it when I got picked up by the Lions,” said Goodman.
The 26-year-old utility injured her ankle playing for the Bluebirds in the QWAFL.
“I’ve probably only been training back for a couple of sessions.
“In our grand final last year that we won I did some cartilage wear and tear and had a bit of tendinopathy.”
The Lions’ Women’s team returned to training last Thursday (5 January) and Goodman said the sessions have ramped up as the season draws closer.
“We did a lot of match simulation, just starting to refine things as it comes towards round one.”
