Brisbane Lions Women’s CEO Breeanna Brock has described the Lions AFLW 2020 fixture as “fan first.”
The Lions will play three home games at Hickey Park, on the north side of Brisbane, as well as their first official AFLW game at the spiritual home of the Lions, The Gabba.
The team will also play their first Queensland women’s derby against 2020 expansion club the Gold Coast SUNS at Metricon Stadium in Round 3.
Brock said Lions AFLW fans will have the opportunity to witness their team in action five times in one season.
“We are so thrilled to have three home games at Hickey Park, an oval right in the heart of Brisbane city. This will be an easy venue for our fans to access,” she said.
“Our team had an unbelievable experience playing a QW Winter Series game at The Gabba and we cannot wait to return in Round 8.
“We are looking forward to playing the SUNS for the first time and with the venue only an hour down the highway we know our supporters will travel to cheer us on.
“We have wanted to give our fans more access to our team and our great game and believe this fixture allows us to do so.
“We are also looking forward to hosting clubs who have not travelled to Brisbane before, including Adelaide and North Melbourne.”
