The Brisbane Lions will consult specialists about the best course of action for defender Tom Cutler’s dislocated shoulder.
The 21-year-old dislocated his left shoulder late in the first quarter of Saturday’s loss to the Western Bulldogs.
Lions physios were able to pop his shoulder back in on the bench, however Cutler was unable to return to the match.
“He’s had scans and he’ll consult a specialist in the next day and we’ll be able to update how long he is likely to be out with that, but he definitely won’t play this weekend,” said Lions Head of Physiotherapy Shane Lemcke.

Allen Christensen (concussion) will undergo further testing during the week to assess his availability to play against the Swans.
“He’s passed his first two concussion tests and now we’ve just got to see how he responds once he resumes training. Given we’ve got an eight day break it gives him a greater chance to play."
Midfielder Ryan Bastinac (ankle) and small forward Josh Green (chest) are both unlikely to line-up against the Swans.
“Ryan hurt his ankle in the second quarter. He was able to play out the rest of the game with strapping but it’s pulled up pretty sore. Again, we’ve got an eight-day break so we’re hopeful he’ll be OK but he is in some doubt at this point in time.”
Meanwhile, Marco Paparone is expected to return this week through the NEAFL. The 21-year-old began training with the main group last week.
After overcoming an off-season shoulder reconstruction, Dayne Beams has battled knee tendinitis post-Christmas that has prevented him from playing so far this season.
However he is now running trouble-free and on the verge on returning in the next couple of weeks.
“Dayne returned to main training last week. It went really well. He’ll do the same this week and then we’ll have a discussion with the coaches to see when he’s ready to return.”
