Dayne Zorko has been charged by the Match Review Panel for striking the Giants’ Phil Davis during the third quarter of Sunday’s match.
The MRP found:
“In summary, his two-match sanction can be reduced to one match with an early guilty plea.
“Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the GWS Giants Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.”
The Club and Zorko are assessing the MRP's findings and a decision will be made today.
In other MRP news to come from the match, GWS’ Jeremy Cameron has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against the Lions’ Rhys Mathieson during the third quarter.
The incident occurred moments before Zorko’s striking report.
The MRP found:
“In summary, the offence has been referred directly to the Tribunal for its determination and he cannot accept an early plea.
“Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Brisbane Lions Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with severe impact to the head. The incident was classified as a direct referral to the Tribunal and an early plea is not available to the player.”
