Rookie forward Josh Schache says he was happy with his debut game for the Brisbane Lions and is looking forward to the season ahead.
Schache looked right at home at the top level against the West Coast, collecting possessions, including a very respectable five marks, and booted two goals.
“It was exciting, it has always been a dream of mine to run out there and pull on a Brisbane jumper, it was awesome,’’ he told The Courier-Mail.
“It was a lot quicker than what I am used too, I was just trying to get to as many contests as I could and either bring it to ground or take the mark and I thought as long as I do that I’ll get my opportunities.
“I felt pretty comfortable out there, obviously I need to get in the gym and strengthen up a bit more but I believe I can handle it and it was a good experience.’’

Schache joins the Lions as they undergo a “fast footy evolution”, which is great for a key forward.
“Everyone is really hard working, we’re a young group but I think that last game last year against the Western Bulldogs showed that when we play fast we play good footy,’’ Schache said.
“That’s what we are trying to do and I thought against West Coast we played pretty daring and got inside 50 a fair bit.
“I’m disappointed that we didn’t get the win but we achieved a goal of getting over 100 points so that was one positive out of it.”
