A round of applause is in order for Tom Rockliff, Dayne Zorko and Mitch Robinson who all collected in week two of the AFL Fantasy finals over the weekend in our Round 21 match against Carlton at the Gabba.
The ‘Fantasy Pig’ Tom Rockliff (MID $616,000) once again finished on top of the league after his performance against the Blues which saw him collect 174 Fantasy points – almost 30 points ahead of the next best, Hawks’ Isaac Smith on 146 points. Here’s what Roy from the Traders had to say about Rockliff in this week’s Fantasy form watch:
Call it predictable, call it what you like, but predictability is a good thing in Fantasy footy when the players come to the party and the one thing you can be sure of is Pigs are party animals! That’s why Tom Rockliff was the No.1 recommended captain this week and he certainly lived up to the hype with a lazy 39 touches, 12 tackles and two goals for a round-high 174. The points lost between Rocky and popular selection Patrick Dangerfield was match-defining.
Dayne Zorko (MID, FWD $516,000) followed Rockliff as the second-highest Fantasy points scorer for the Lions, racking up 125. Zorko and Rockliff are a powerful duo taking a combined 66 disposals, 12 marks, 16 tackles, nine clearances, 17 inside 50s and 5 goals – that’s 27 disposals for Zorko, seven marks, four tackles, 12 inside 50s and three goals. According to the Schick AFL Player Ratings, Zorko’s huge first-half against Carlton was the second-best first-half recorded (27.9 points) since 2010.
When the Lions slowed in the second half, it was Mitch Robinson (MID, FWD $365,000) who pulled through to keep his team from slipping through the cracks. In the final minute Robinson took a game-saving mark that would only add to his season-high 16 kicks and 11 tackles – totalling 22 touches for the afternoon and 109 Fantasy points.
In his second game of the season following an ACL injury, Michael Close (FWD, $158,000) kicked four goals from five marks and six kicks, picking up 84 Fantasy points along the way. He was a constant target for the Lions midfielders and the 22-year old’s performance on Saturday paints a promising picture for the club’s future.
To round out our Top 5 was Ryan Bastinac (MID, $386,000) whose appearance proves consistency for the midfielder, with an AFL Fantasy score of 79 points, which also happens to be his season average. Bastinac was handy with 22 touches.
