Some of the country’s best young talent will be on show in a QClash curtain raiser on Saturday when Gold Coast and Brisbane go head-to-head at Metricon Stadium.

Eight members of the Allies side which contested the National Under-18 Division 1 Championships last month have been selected to play across both side in the 12.55pm match.

The Suns have added six of its academy members in Brad Scheer, Jack Bowes, Josh Williams, Max Spencer, Daniel Charlesworth and Nick Kempe to take on the Lions.

Jesse Lonergan returns to football after missing the past two games with glandular fever, while Jaeger O’Meara continues his comeback from injury via the NEAFL.

O’Meara made his long-awaited return last week, collecting 15 disposals in a half of football and is expected to play approximately three quarters of this week’s game.

The Lions have welcomed back Rising Star nominee Jack Rolls and fellow academy member Jacob Allison among their inclusions.

AFL-listed pair Ben Keays and Josh Walker have been omitted from the AFL squad and have been named in the NEAFL alongside Claye Beams, Nick Robertson Jono Freeman, Jackson Paine and Archie Smith.

Rebounding defender Reuben William is out of the line-up ahead of his AFL debut.

Brisbane were big winners last time these two sides met by 112 points at the Gabba in Round 9, but the Suns have won their past two matches to take some momentum into this week’s clash.
