A sell-out crowd at The Brisbane Club were treated to an insightful interview with one of the biggest names in the AFL's media circle, Caroline Wilson, at this year’s Women of the Pride Business Breakfast.
A multiple Walkley Award winning Australian sports journalist and chief football writer for The Age since 1999, Wilson provided an invaluable perspective to the game.
Hosted my MC and highly respected journalist Victoria Carthew – Wilson spoke her experiences in the football media industry and also her personal experiences with the game.
Wilson was the first woman to cover Australian Rules football on a full-time basis and the first woman to win the AFL's gold media award.
Her father, Ian Wilson, was president of Richmond Football Club between 1974 and 1985.
Senior Coach Justin Leppitsch and his wife Christie, CEO Greg Swann and his wife Leonie, Leigh and Deb Matthews and the Club’s Board members were in attendance.
The Club also welcomed members of the Lions’ Women’s Exhibition Match team. The Lions have submitted an application to the AFL to field a Women’s team from 2017.
