One of Queensland’s favourite television personalities, Channel 7 newsreader Kay McGrath, has joined the Brisbane Lions as the Club’s first official Ambassador for 2012.

With the Lions off to a great start after beating the Melbourne Demons in their first game last Saturday, Kay - a long-time Lions member - jumped at the chance to be an Ambassador with the Club.

“I’m delighted to be offered the role of ambassador as I’ve been a long-time fan of the Brisbane Lions, admiring their work both on and off the field,” Kay said.

“I’m on a steep learning curve, but ready for the challenge”

The role of Lions Ambassador will see Kay attend Lions matches as well as corporate events and functions this year.

Former Lions ruckman and now ruck coach and business development executive, Jamie Charman, said the Club was delighted to have Kay on board as an Ambassador.

“Knowing Kay’s passion and enthusiasm for the Lions makes her a tremendous recruit for the Lions,” Charman said.

The Lions’ first home game of the season takes place this Thursday April 5, at 7.40pm at the Gabba, with tickets still available via lions.com.au. Live coverage of the match will be beamed into Queensland on 7mate from 7.30pm.

The game will be telecast on Seven’s primary channel in most other markets (please check local guides).
