In this week’s Carlton Draught Throwback Thursday we go back to Round 15, 2005 when the Lions took on Collingwood at the Gabba and Dan Merrett kicked 3 goals.
Young Dan Merrett was just 20 and in his 10th game when he went up forward and kicked the three goals and 3 behinds.
Merrett played 100% game time and notched up 11 disposals as well as polling the maximum three Brownlow votes for his efforts.
Fact: Dan Merrett was drafted as a forward in the 2002 NAB AFL Draft after the Lions saw him as somewhat of a ‘project player’.
