Champion Brisbane Lions midfielder Simon Black made a surprise house call to the Labrom residence in Queensland on Wednesday afternoon, to recognise six year-old George who signed up as the Club’s 10,000th member for 2012.

George (pictured) was joined at the house by Alexander, 9, Mitchell, 11, Fraser, 14, and his mother Katriona who all form part of a Lions family membership.

Black, who will enter next season just four games shy of 300 senior matches, personally delivered the family’s membership package and even spent time with the kids kicking the football around their backyard.

The triple Club Champion acknowledged the importance of every one of the Lions’ signed up 2012 members, and encouraged more fans to ‘answer to the call’.

“To have 10,000 members before Christmas is a fantastic outcome for the Club,” Black said.

“It’s been fun to come to one of our supporters’ homes. They have recently signed up to become members again next year, (and) it was fantastic to see the young boys and have a kick and a catch with them.”

“We’ve been training really hard for the last couple of months to try and have a good 2012. Now we’re looking forward to getting out there and winning more games than last year.”
