Ryan Harwood

A big focus for Harzy was to give and go a bit more, which he did. He provided a lot of overlap run for us off half back. Probably just more fundamentally for Ryan, he turned the footy over a few times throughout the day and cost us a couple of goals, but played with the endeavour we needed him to do. He puts himself back in line for senior selection.

Trent WestFirst game back for over 12 months, he had half a game playing more as a forward. He kicked two, should’ve kicked three possibly but it was a good to see Trent going for his marks and building his confidence now he’s back and playing footy. He’ll only get better with more game time.
Josh ClaytonAn improved performance this week, still playing a high forward role, occasional midfield in the second half. Better in the contest this week, Clayto. Probably not impacting the game as much as he had in previous weeks, but certainly an improved performance.
Liam DawsonOur best player for the day, he had 21 marks off half back. Still looking to organise and improve around structure and stoppages. His impact now as a defender is very good, that’s three in a row and he’ll certainly come under senior consideration.
Tom CutlerTommy was probably our second best player for the day, he had over 30 (disposals). Provided a lot of give and go from half back with some run. He played midfield in the second half, and more so the last quarter. Still his RFI’s for Tom, he’s still working on his contested game to really be stronger in the contest. But certainly played an OK game for us off half back.
Jono FreemanLike Westy it was his first game back all year, he played more as a key forward. He kicked one, clunked a couple. A big focus is continuing his confidence with more game time in the coming weeks. It’s good to see Jono back on the park again.
Ryan LesterRyan was good for three quarters until he injured himself. He hurt his knee and now will probably miss the rest of the year. Again a good inside role for us, a big focus is spreading from stoppage, driving his legs which he was very good at. He was certainly missed in the back half of the game.
Matt HammelmannHe started forward and we pushed him back in the last, he got out-marked a couple of times and took a couple of catches. It was a bit of a mixed bag for Hamma, he’s still focusing on his contested work, particularly with his marking and his techniques in that .
Mitch GolbyA pretty good performance by Mitch, he played on the wing. Provided a bit of leadership around the ball for us,  went inside in the last quarter, and picked up seven clearances for Mitch was a great result.
Josh McGuinnessProbably his best game for the year, Macca, he had 30 touches on a wing. Played a little bit half back early in the game, he provided a lot of run for us. He’s doing really well now when he’s having shots on goal as a wingman, he had some good overlap from behind the ball. He’ll be working on some ground level for the next month to improve that.
Archie SmithProbably beaten on the day with Toby Nankervis. There were a couple of efforts around the ground which were alright, particularly his follow up work. But still needing to work on his craft as a ruckman at centre square bounce and around the ground at stoppages and then what he does in defence around the ground is a critical part for Archie moving forward.
Billy EvansInside mid for the day. Strong around the contest again, applying his art very well in that area of his game – not coughing it up, being clean around stoppage. He’s probably now turning the ball that he gets into possessions, and continuing to work in transition for Billy.
Zac O’BrienZac was the first emergency for the seniors on the weekend, had to get him off at three quarter time. A solid game from Zac, a bit of midfield / a bit of a high forward role in and around stoppage. Working to shape the ball more from stoppage. Didn’t see any impact this week to do with goal kicking , but a serviceable performance.
Hugh BeasleyCame back this week and played as a key defender for us, a solid performance from Hugh. A couple of contests he was beaten, but generally across the day. He provided some good structure behind the ball for us and played his role for the team.
