LAST TIME THEY MET
The Lions were looking to break their losing streak in Melbourne with their Round 12 visit to Etihad to face the in-form Blues.
The margin was close heading into the first break, before Carlton kicked four goals to one in the second term to extend their lead to 33 points heading into half time.
The third term saw Carlton’s leg speed prove too much for the Lions defence, before an evenly-matched final quarter saw Carlton walk away 61-point victors.
Andrew Walker ended the day with five goals for Carlton, while Jack Redden (32 touches and five tackles) and Simon Black (30 touches) were shining lights for the Lions.

The Lions kick-start their season at the Gabba on Thursday as they play host to Carlton in the traditional Easter Thursday night match.
It will be the second meeting between the two teams, having faced off in Maroochydore as part of the NAB Cup. The Lions were comfortable winners in this outing, holding the undermanned Blues scoreless in the second half and finishing the day with a winning margin of 64.
Both teams started the 2012 Premiership season strongly - Carlton comfortably accounted for Richmond with a 44 point win on Thursday night, while the Lions beat Melbourne yesterday by 41 points.
Carlton forward Lachlan Henderson played 15 matches in two seasons with the Brisbane Lions from 2008-2009.
