Ruckman Stef Martin says he has “moved on” from the Steve May bump that knocked him out cold in the last QClash and does not harbour a grudge against the Gold Coast defender.

May was handed a five-week suspension after laying out Martin in Round 4 at the Gabba.

Martin and an apologetic May communicated after the incident with the Lions star going as far as to say he did not want the Sun to get suspended but understood why the AFL had to rub him out with the crackdown on contact with the head.

But while he has “moved on’’ from the incident, Martin told The Courier-Mail that he still expects a robust clash.

“Internally, those sorts of things (the May bump) can fire a group up. Externally, it could be built up. People can judge for themselves but there’s definitely more heat on this game now,’’ Martin told The Courier-Mail.

“Rocky (Lions captain Tom Rockliff was knocked out by a May bump in 2015) was probably the first incident but the teams should come out swinging, in a sense.

“Lately we’ve been trying to be more physical with teams and that probably ties in pretty well with next weekend.

“But you don’t premeditate anything. Sometimes there’s stuff that goes on before the bounce but you don’t have any time to think once the game starts so you just have to attack the footy and see what unfolds.

“Given we knocked these guys off last time, I think we’ll go in with a reasonable amount of confidence.’’
