Forward Luke McGuane will contest his $1000 fine at the Tribunal tonight.

McGuane was charged with engaging in rough conduct against the Blues’ Kade Simpson during the second quarter in Saturday’s win over Carlton at The Gabba.

The MRP found, “based on the video evidence available and a medical report from Carlton Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as careless conduct with low impact to the head.”

Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football, Dean Warren, said the Club and McGuane believe his actions could be defended.

“Under the circumstances, the action of the tackle wasn’t unrealistic ,” Warren said.
