The intra club will kick off at 10am this Friday also at Burpengary and will be the first four quarter hit out for the team.
Training has been building up over the last few months and Contest Skills & Midfield Coach, Simon Black says the players are raring to get into some real footy.
“There’s no doubt the guys are now looking forward to playing some real footy, its being a long pre season, so they can put their training to the test and get some games under their belt.
“There are some really fit guys amongst the group and some guys that have really elevated themselves over the pre season, so really looking forward to seeing how they go come the games.”
With the Lions adding to their mid field depth with the recruitment of Dayne Beams and Allen Christensen, Black says it will challenge the players on the fringe.
“That’s the luxury of being able to get two really quality players to our team, to help challenge guys on the fringe, put pressure on guys for their positions in the side in the mid field.
“Yes we’ll still rotation large of numbers through there but there are some guys that are going to need to perform really well to hold their spot.”
Fans are encouraged to get out to Aquatic Centre Drive at Burpengary from 10am to check out the boys in action but for those that can’t make it lions.com.au will be running a Live Chat.
