BRISBANE Lions captain Jonathan Brown has been taken for precautionary scans on his face after a training collision with defender Matt Maguire on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old walked from the ground flanked by the Lions' medical team and headed straight for the rooms.

Twice last year Brown had his jaw and cheekbone fractured after marking contests in AFL matches.

Lions football manager Dean Warren said Brown was in good spirits and it was too early to speculate on any possible damage.

The Club quickly issued a statement to confirm the incident.

"Jonathan Brown will undergo precautionary scans on his face this afternoon after a collision with teammates during a training drill this morning," the sattement read.

"Brown left the training session following the incident."

The Club also said that it would advise the public - and its concerned fans - of the scan results once they become available.
