Lions CEO Greg Swann spoke with the ABC Granstand’s Dom Fay and Michael Whiting on the Northern Frontier about off-field matters currently at hand.
Swann confirmed negotiations for a new training and administration base were ongoing and a meeting with the Government has been pushed back until late September.
“We still need to speak to the Premier and the Government to see what they’re thinking and what opportunities we’ll have from a funding perspective,” said Greg Swann.
In terms of the 2015 AFL fixture, Swann said he’s put in a few requests for the Lions in 2016.
“We’ve asked for a Friday night during the mid-year, near the school holidays,”
“The first round falls on Easter Thursday and we’ve historically got that … but if it’s the opening round we might miss out so we’d be looking to get a good game in compensation for that.”
“We’d love to have the Hawks up here, they haven’t been up here in a long time and that’s something that’s been floated by both Hawthorn and us.”
Swann also requested a Saturday twilight time slot for our home games.
