The Brisbane Lions will be getting into the spirit of The Melbourne Cup by hosting a special big-screen viewing at LIONS@springwood in honour of ‘the race that stops the nation’ on Tuesday 1 November.

The afternoon will be full of fun and entertainment, with best dressed and hat competitions, big screen action and plenty more activities. Lions mascot Bernie ‘Gabba’ Vegas will also be in attendance to show off his racing form with the fillies!

LIONS@springwood General Manager Paul McGuire hopes the event can help create a racing-type buzz for the Spring Racing faithful.

“We are expecting a good turn-out for our Melbourne Cup Day event and hope that all Lions fans make LIONS@springwood their preferred venue for watching the country’s most famous race,” McGuire said.

McGuire said he was also looking forward to another visit from Bernie ‘Gabba’ Vegas.

“Bernie is fast becoming a local at the Lions’ social club. He has been regularly dropping in lately to watch all the Spring Carnival action, so we can’t wait to see his race form come Melbourne Cup Day,” Mr McGuire said.

So race into LIONS@springwood on Tuesday 1 November 2011 to be part of the Melbourne Cup action.
