Lions forward Bryce Retzlaff answered questions from fans during a 30-minute live online chat at 11:30am (Queensland time) on Wednesday 1 February 2012.

Please find below an edited transcript from what was said during the Q&A session.

Bryce Retzlaff:
G'day guys, how's it going?

Jack: Hey Bryce how has your pre-season been going so far?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hi Jack, pre-season has been really good. I’m starting to really look forward to playing games though!

Mark: G’day Retzy, good to see you've stacked on 8kgs this pre-season. Which position are you hoping to play this season?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hi Mark, hopefully centre half-forward - but Browny might have something to say about that! He is looking fit and training really well, so I won't be pushing him out of his spot.

GG: Awesome to chat with you Retzy. Why the change from #37 to #8?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hey GG, just liked the lower number. No real reason!

The Uncle: Hi Bryce, have the coaches formed an unpredictable goal-kicking game plan that uses a spread of goal kickers? Or will the ‘bomb it to Brownie’ game plan be the way to go?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hey mate, yeah the plan is to bomb it to Browny!! Everyone else just to get out of his way…

Matt: Hey Bryce, do you think Browny will be a permanent full forward to preserve him or will he still play at centre half forward?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hi Matt. I think Browny will work in with the other talls in forward line, won't really be a set full forward. He likes to run his opponent around, so will be hard to keep him in the goal square.

Denise from Loch Sport: Hi Bryce, I see you've gained a lot of weight - how are you handling it - has it impacted on your speed and/or ability to fly?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hi Grandma, speeds never been great anyway, so got no problems there lol. Ability to fly should have improved through leg strength so hopefully we will see a few hangers!

Jack: Do you think we are a genuine chance to make the finals this year?

Bryce Retzlaff: Jack, you go into every season believing you are going to play finals football. It is what you play for. So that is our aim this year.

Matt: Hi Bryce. Do you think Jonathan brown will smash into packs and injure himself like he did last year or is he going to stay out of all that?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hi Matt, I don't think injury will stop Browny running back with the flight, he is pretty courageous and I don't think that will stop him!

Mikey127: Hi Bryce, how close are we to having a full squad to choose from?

Bryce Retzlaff: Yeah, most of the boys are out on the training track, it's good to have a healthy squad this time of year!

TheBrownDog: Retzy, who has impressed you the most from our new recruits?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hey there, Tinka (Zorko) is really enthusiastic and has fitted in really well.

Ian: Hey Bryce, there seems to be strong competition between yourself, Patty K, Ace and Jordan for around 3 spots. Is the competition having a beneficial effect on your training or is it stressing you out a bit?

Bryce Retzlaff: Hi Ian, I'm a stress head so yeah, it is stressing me out. But it is definitely pushing us all to get the best out of ourselves and you wanna be in the round one team.

Mr babysarm: Hi Bryce, thanks for talking today. Is it true u live with ryan lester and he doesn’t talk very much..??? how is that around the house??

Bryce Retzlaff: Hi there, yeah I do live with Humphrey B Bear (Lester) he doesn't talk much and his wallet's got cobwebs on it! He is a really good cook around the house, his best meal is wheetbix

jack: Looking forward to meeting you at the Victorian family day, whenever that is. Are you going to play in the nab cup?

Bryce Retzlaff: You’ll have to ask Vossy that one Jack ;)

Beetle: Hi Bryce, If you could have your life as any movie, which one would it be?

Bryce Retzlaff: Um, it would have to be Scarface!

IanHaso84: Aren't we all stress heads, mate. It seems like you train hard and give it a good crack on the field, so you have as good a chance as any. Heaps of luck this year.

Bryce Retzlaff: Thanks legend.

Donger: Hey Bryce, how’s your endurance capacity improved since last year??

Bryce Retzlaff: Yeah a little bit. Putting on weight makes it harder to run but still small improvements.

Steve: Hey Bryce, can you tell us what part of your game you have been working most on over the pre-season?

Bryce Retzlaff: G'day Steve, contested marking has been my primary focus. I have been working closely with Browny and Goose to try and improve that aspect of my game.

Big_fritz: Hey there Retzy, Ive noticed u haven’t had any questions asked about the sleeve yet, can u fill us in about that..??

Bryce Retzlaff: I grew up hanging around a tattoo shop, the old man has a few... Mum isn't too happy about it though! I better get more ;)

jack: Bryce, I have put you in my Dream Team so can you please score a lot of points for me this year thanks

Bryce Retzlaff: Jack, probably best you get rid of me mate lol but I will do my best!

Steve: Hey Bryce, what are your personal KPIs for a game? Is it contested marks or more defensive stuff?

Bryce Retzlaff: G'day Steve, personal KPI's for a game would be I set a number of marks I would like to achieve. Trying to get to as many contests as possible and score assists

Guest: Who do you believe has improved the most over the pre season?

Bryce Retzlaff: G'day mate, I think Mitch Golby has improved the most. He is training very well and is very fit. Keep an eye out for him to have a massive year

Jack: Thanks mate, you've given a great insight. Have a massive year!!

Bryce Retzlaff: No worries mate, cheers for the support.

Thanks very much legends, great chatting to ya. Hope you can all get down to the games this year. GO LIONS!!!!!!!!!!
