Around 900 guests will flock to Melbourne’s Crowd Palladium on Saturday 23 June to be part of the Brisbane Lions’ inaugural Hall of Fame event.

But mystery still surrounds exactly who will be among the esteemed first group inductees.

At the recent Past Players and Officials Reunion at Etihad Stadium, a few former greats gave their opinions on who they think would be worthy candidates for the honour from their era.

Garry Sidebottom (1982-1984)

“Les Parish. I know he’s now passed, but he was a great player. A very courageous player. And Bernie Quinlan, of course, he was a great player for Fitzroy.”

Chris Smith (1973-1982)

“From my era, no doubt Garry Wilson. He’s probably Fitzroy’s second favourite son behind the great Kevin Murray.”

“I’d probably have to sit down and work it out with paper and pen to go through them all.”

Anthony McGregor (1993-1996)

“You’ve got Roosy, Lynchy, Matty Armstrong and Paul Broderick…I played with them for a couple of years, and to catch up with them 15-16 years down the track is going to be amazing.”
