Brisbane Lions Chairman Bob Sharpless said there were absolutely no plans to move AFL premiership games away from the Gabba.

Mr Sharpless said media reports that the Club intended to play games at a stadium at Springfield were inaccurate.

He said the club was committed to basing a new state-of-the-art training and administration venue at Springfield, and the process of securing funding for that project continued.

But any suggestion the Lions would play games at Springfield was incorrect.

"The Gabba is the playing home of the Brisbane Lions and will be for the long-term future," said Mr Sharpless.

"The Lions are committed to play all games at the Gabba for many, many years to come."

Mr Sharpless said he never suggested the Lions would move its home games away from the Gabba, only that a stadium could be built at Springfield as part of development of the city in the distant future.

"There are no plans whatsoever to move home games away from the Gabba," said Mr Sharpless.

"Our big focus is on securing the training and administration facility at Springfield, which is key to ensuring footballing success and the financial security of the club."
