Brisbane Lions AFLW forward Brianna McFarlane will undergo surgery on her right shoulder later today.

McFarlane was injured while playing for Wilston Grange in Round 1 of the QAFLW on Saturday afternoon.

Injury to the same right shoulder had previously ruled her out for the entire 2019 AFLW season.

Lions Women’s CEO Breeanna Brock said the Club felt her disappointment.

“Sadly this is the same shoulder Bri injured last season and it does require surgery straight away,” Brock said.

“Bri made huge gains this season and we have been really pleased with her progress.

“We will now look to support her as best we can through this tough time.

“In typical Bri fashion she is keeping positive and approaching this tough situation with the best attitude.”
