If you were thinking about becoming Sam Mayes’ player sponsor this season, then you had better get in line.

Fresh from an eye-catching debut season, it’s no wonder that Mayes’ popularity has skyrocketed.

The Lions’ reigning Rookie of the Year has not only sold out all four of his player sponsorships in both Queensland and Victoria in 2014, but also has another half a dozen fans queuing up to jump on his bandwagon.

But Mayes isn’t the only player who’s been ‘maxed out’, with player sponsorship on track to reach record numbers this season.

In fact, he’s one of nine Lions players who have already reached their capacity of sponsors in both Queensland and Victoria.

The others include fan favourites Jonathan Brown, Dayne Zorko, Daniel Rich and Jack Redden, along with some of the Club’s young up-and-comers in Justin Clarke, Claye Beams, James Aish and Lewis Taylor.

It’s a testament to the popularity of recent draftees Aish and Taylor that they have been able to generate such interest despite having never played a senior AFL match.

Brown, Beams, Clarke and Redden also have a waitlist – although none are as long as Mayes’.

At the other end of the scale, there are still a number of players who have plenty of spaces currently available.

Please find below a list of the players whose player sponsorships have either sold out or are close to selling out.
