With Trade Period seeing the addition of three new Lions including Lachie Neale, Marcus Adams and Lincoln McCarthy, AFL Media have taken a fresh look at our playing group for 2019.

Here's who AFL Media predict will be named in our best 22 to start 2019:

B: Darcy Gardiner, Harris Andrews, Luke Hodge
HB: Daniel Rich, Marcus Adams, Alex Witherden
C: Tom Cutler, Dayne Zorko, Hugh McCluggage
HF: Lewis Taylor, Eric Hipwood, Cameron Rayner
F: Charlie Cameron, Daniel McStay, Oscar McInerney
FOLL: Stefan Martin, Lachie Neale, Jarrod Berry
I/C: Lincoln McCarthy, Mitch Robinson, Allen Christensen, Nick Robertson

Despite the departure of midfielder Dayne Beams, Lachie Neale's arrival will bolster the midfield with experience and talent.

Marcus Adams and a fit Lincoln McCarthy should get opportunities early on while Luke Hodge's experience in the back half will remain invaluable.

According to AFL Media, among those unlucky to miss selection are Josh Walker, Zac Bailey, Rhys Mathieson and Ryan Lester, but the summer is long and there will be many opportunities players like them to push their case forward. 

Sam Mayes has departed as well while a fit Charlie Cameron will be a welcomed return from injury.
