Dayne Beams, who is currently on holidays in the USA, took to Twitter not long after Wednesday’s trade was finalised to express his delight in officially becoming a Brisbane Lions player.

Beams said he was particularly thrilled to be joining his younger brother and “best mate”, Claye, back home in Queensland.

"I'm looking forward to continuing my career with the Lions and my best mate and my brother. Thank you to everyone who has supported," Beams Tweeted.

"The decisions I've made are for what I think is best for myself, partner and family and that is all that matters to me at the end of the day."

Fans can expect to hear more from the Lions’ newest recruit when he returns from overseas next week.
