BRISBANE Lions veteran Jonathan Brown will weigh up his playing future in the coming days after suffering yet another concussion.
The 32-year-old left the field dazed after his head made contact with the hip of Giants defender Tomas Bugg during the third term of Saturday night's loss to GWS.
Brown suffered concussion but was cleared of any structural damage to his face.
The champion forward has sustained several major head injuries and concussions throughout his career, and has had surgery on his face several times to insert metal plates around his eye socket and cheekbones.
Brown told The Sunday Footy Show he will contemplate retirement in the next week following this latest incident.
"I'm not mentally scarred by what's happened over the last few years, I'll still go out and play footy the same way," Brown said.
"The family support is there, there's no pressure either way to hang up the boots.
"You obviously have to weigh up these things. I'm getting to the end of my career, I'm still loving getting out there and trying to get out there and help the younger fellas at the club.
"I certainly don't move around like I used to but I've still got to be able to contribute enough to warrant a spot. We'll just let the dust settle, I don’t think the first 24 hours is the time to make rash decisions.
"I'll consult the doctors this week, and obviously my wife and we'll see where things are at, but I'm pretty keen to play a full season that's for sure."
When asked if he had played his last game of football, the veteran forward said he was unsure but hoped he could play out the rest of the season.
"I suppose it was a bit like last year when I had a footy injury and I was sitting on the bench and the first few weeks wondering if I'd play my last game," he said.
"To be honest I'm not frightened by that prospect. I've committed to a full season so I'd like to get through a full season, but sometimes these things happen, and I've just got to weigh it up.
"At the end of the day if that's it, there's nothing I can do about it, but I'm leaning towards playing."
The Lions face Fremantle on Saturday at Patersons Stadium with Brown confirming he was unlikely to travel with the side for a number of reasons.
"Leppa's being keen to give me a rest from time to time," he said.
"We've got a long trip to Perth this week for Fremantle on Saturday and Kylie being due with the baby … I'd probably be unlikely for this week.
"I'll just chat about it over the next week or two and work out what the next direction is."
