Jordan Lisle and Sam Michael are expected to line up for the Brisbane Lions Reserves when they take on the winner of this Sunday’s Preliminary Final between Aspley and Southport in the following week’s 2013 NEAFL premiership decider.

Lisle and Michael have been valuable contributors for the Reserves this season, but missed Saturday’s hard-fought Semi Final win over Aspley after both were recalled the senior side to face Geelong.

Now that the Lions' senior AFL campaign has come to an end, they’ll be available to play in the NEAFL Grand Final.

“All the boys who played against Aspley have qualified to play (in the Grand Final), as have Sam Michael and Jordan Lisle who were part of the senior team last week,” Reserves Coach Leigh Harding said.

“Their availability is a massive bonus, and will increase our listed player numbers to 15 or 16.”

Lisle has been one of the NEAFL’s most dominant forwards this season, with 47 goals from his 12 reserves matches this season (an average of almost four per game) to rank equal sixth in the competition alongside teammate Aaron Cornelius.

Both also played a big role in last year’s NEAFL Cross-Conference Championship win over Queanbeyan, with Lisle booting eight goals and Michael winning the Andrew Ireland Medal as best afield.

The rest of the Lions Reserves squad will benefit from a week’s break, which comes at an opportune time after a taxing encounter against the Hornets.

“It was a very demanding game. It was 29-30 degrees and both teams were out on their feet in the last quarter,” Harding said.

“A couple of boys pulled up sore also.

“So the week off is definitely going to help. It means the boys also get a chance to enjoy the best and fairest and other functions as well.

Harding said that the team would likely head out to Yeronga this Sunday to get a closer look at their Grand Final opponents.
