The Brisbane Lions have endured a pretty turbulent past 10 days, however Co-Captain Jed Adcock believes the latest news surrounding a potential spill of the Lions’ Board of Directors will have little effect on the players.
Adcock told media on Thursday that the fall-out from the recent Board saga paled in comparison to last week’s shock departure of former Senior Coach Michael Voss.
"This one's a bit different. It doesn't really affect the players at the moment in any way so I guess you can sort of move on from this one pretty quickly and let the Board do what they've got to do and organise themselves,” Adcock said.
"Last week when Vossy was let go, that probably had an effect on-field but (it’s) not (the case) when it comes to the Board.
"You'd probably find a lot of young guys out here are probably unsure about what’s going on. Once again you move on and worry about playing footy, a bit like last week.”
Adcock said he and his teammates remain intently focussed on this Sunday’s clash against the Western Bulldogs, who some media commentators have claimed are the ‘best side’ outside of the top eight.
It’s no surprise really, considering the Bulldogs have won three of their past four games against teams vying for that final spot in the AFL Finals.
Plus, the Bulldogs’ 68-point demolition of the Lions is still fresh in the players’ minds.
"They are flying. They taught us a lesson in Round 1 down there (in Victoria),'' Adcock said.
"We've really got to do our homework this week, train hard and come ready to play.
“They are in extremely good form but we are in pretty good form too so hopefully we can come with a different attitude that we came in with Round 1.”
Board issue no distraction
