VICE CAPTAIN Dayne Zorko’s form in the back half of the season has been exceptional. The 26-year old racked up a game high 38 possessions on Saturday against Adelaide and attributes a move further up the ground to getting the most out of his football.

“It’s come with a bit of a positional change, I guess”, Zorko told lions.com.au

“I’ve moved up onto the wing whereas earlier in the year I was playing a bit off half forward and not getting lost, but just not having probably that same zip and speed that I had towards the end of last year.

“It was a bit of a positional change for mine and it seems to have worked wonders.

“I’m enjoying the role on the wing, so hopefully they’ll keep me there.”

Zorko said despite the disappointing loss to Adelaide the Lions’ young side were able to gain invaluable experience in front of a hostile away crowd.

With the Crows desperate for a win to help cement their place in the top eight, Brisbane played under their biggest crowd of the season.

Adelaide Oval was packed with almost 48 000 thousand passionate Adelaide supporters.

“Obviously it was a disappointing result.

“But we do have a lot of young kids in the side and it’s important that they get exposed to those sorts of crowds.

“Obviously around September time, where we want to be playing in a few years, we’ll be coming up against hostile conditions and crowds that are a little bit larger than that”, Zorko said.

“To get some experience like that under their belts, it’s a good opportunity for them.”

“It’s obviously a testing time for the club at the moment and with such a young group it’s important to stay upbeat and positive even though the results aren’t going our way.

“It’s these times that will make the winning times more enjoyable.”

The Lions have blooded five first years players into senior football in 2015. Harris Andrews received a NAB Rising Star nomination in round 18 and Zorko believes the future is bright.

“Having all those young kids – Harris Andrews and Liam Dawson, getting more games into those guys has been a positive, Billy Evans too.

“The new recruits – Dayne, Allen and Mitch they’ve come into the club and slotted in really well.

“The games they’ve played this year is only going to help them in the years to come and just building those relationships with those players as well.

“Hopefully with a full list next year and having a pretty solid pre-season we’ll get a few more results on the board next year.”
