The Brisbane Lions are delighted to announce that Lisa Newman has agreed to be the Club’s No.1 ticket-holder.
Lions co-captain Jonathan Brown and Jed Adcock today made the announcement during a special presentation to Mrs Newman in front of students from Milpera State High School.
Mrs Newman said she was delighted to be the Lions’ No.1 ticket holder for the remainder of this year and 2014 and was proud to be involved with their community outreach programs.
“It’s an honour to be involved with the Lions in this capacity,” Mrs Newman said.
Mrs Newman, the wife of Queensland Premier Campbell Newman, joined Brown and Adcock for a Lion-Hearted Leaders session at the school and spoke glowingly of the program.
“Lion Hearted Leaders is a terrific initiative designed to break down boundaries and teach our kids the importance of tolerance, diversity and inclusion,” Mrs Newman said.
“I know Jonathan and Jed are thrilled they have the chance to shape young lives. But I suspect they’re just as inspired by the kids as the kids are by them.”
Brown said the Lions performed significant work in the local community and hoped Mrs Newman’s support would only further enhance that.
“I’ve been at the Lions now since I was 18 and we’ve always placed a huge importance on the work that we do in the community,” said Brown, now 31.
“Programs like Lion-Hearted Leaders can play a key role in helping develop positive behaviours for kids and we’re delighted Mrs Newman was able to see that today.
“It’s great to have the support of such a proud Queenslander like Mrs Newman. She’s involved in a number of community activities herself so the relationship is a natural fit.”
David Devine was the Club’s most previous No.1 ticket-holder and the Club would again like to thank him for his support.
