A huge thanks to everyone for their great response to our recent website story about Senior Coach Michael Voss’ desire to resurrect the 'Liiiooonnnsss' chant that was so powerful in his heyday during the team’s premiership years.

The article was one of lions.com.au’s most popular stories for the month with thousands of readers, and attracted 39 expressions of interest from fans wanting to become 'Chant Champions'. From those that contacted the Club, a core group of people attended a meeting last Wednesday night at the Gabba and a debut squadron of Chant Champions was born.

These Chant Champions will lead the 'Liiiooonnnsss' chant around the Gabba during each home game starting with this Saturday night's season opening clash against West Coast.

Our new Chant Champions along with the Lions administration team came up with a range of great ideas including:

* Broadcasting the chant over the stadium's PA system at the Gabba gates so people get used to hearing it.

* Giving each Chant Champion a special placard to hold up during the game which says: “Vossy needs you! Chant Liiiooonnnsss” to help cue the crowd.

* Timing the chants so they are loudest after each Lions goal, at the start of each quarter and when the quarter time huddles are nearing completion.

* Having the Chant Champions wear distinctive clothing such as the Club’s new white clash guernsey so they can be easily spotted and followed.

* Getting the ground announcer involved to encourage greater crowd involvement.

* Listing the names of our Chant Champions on the replay screen during each home game.

The Chant Champions stressed that Gabba crowds must be fully aware of this rolling chant's comeback so they don’t revert back to the old ‘Lions (clap, clap, clap)’ during the match.

The Club needs your support on match-day to get right behind our Chant Champions and help spread Vossy’s favourite chant around the Gabba-toir.

We would love all Lions members and supporters to chant 'Liiiooonnnsss':

* After each Lions goal
* At the beginning of each quarter
* When the quarter time huddles are concluding
* And any other time that fans feel the players could benefit from their vocal support.

So please keep an eye out this Saturday night and listen for the ground announcements to become part of what Vossy hopes will become a permanent match-winning tradition.

We look forward to your continued support and GO LIONS!!!
