The Brisbane Lions have decided to contest the striking charge handed down to Co-Captain Jonathan Brown by the AFL Match Review Panel on Monday night.
Senior Coach Michael Voss revealed at his media conference on Tuesday that Brown was set to plead his case the AFL Tribunal.
"We are going to contest the charge on Browny," Voss said.
"We'll have a bit of a look and see whether we can limit the charge in some way. Until then, I guess it's a little bit of wait and see.
"It is a little bit (of a gamble), but we think it's worthwhile enough to have a look at and ask the question. It will certainly give us a bit of clarity if it's seen that way."
Brown was initially offered a one-week ban following an incident involving Carlton’s Michael Jamison during the third quarter of last Saturday night’s match at the Gabba.
The MRP assessed the incident as intentional, low impact and high contact, resulting in a two-match suspension. However, Brown could have accepted a one-match sanction with an early guilty plea.
Brown now risks missing the next two matches if his case proves unsuccessful.
