The Brisbane Lions kicked off their 2012 Community Camp in spectacular style today with a trip to Australia Zoo.

Michael Voss, Jonathan Brown and Josh Drummond were on hand to launch the two-day camp, which will see the Lions visit more than 40 local schools and 10 local football clubs.

The trio started the day by getting to know a fellow big cat - a 110kg Sumatran tiger.

Drummond remarked that that was almost the same weight as Brown.

“So he’d have at least a 50-50 shot in a fight, you’d think,” said Drummond.

After the tiger visit, the group went on to meet more of the zoo’s residents, including a Burmese python, an alligator, and a macaw.

While Voss, Brown and Drummond were getting cuddly with the animals, their teammates were busy spreading themselves across the Sunshine Coast to get to as many schools as possible.

Players visited twelve schools over the course of the afternoon to roll out the Lion Hearted Leaders schools program, and most importantly, get amongst it with the local students and kick the footy!

The Lions will be on Alex Beach tomorrow from 7am for an outside broadcast with Hot 91.

Fans wanting to meet all their favourite players are encouraged to come along to Fisherman’s Road, Maroochydore from 4pm-5.30pm tomorrow, Friday 17 February for a super clinic and autograph session.
