BRISBANE Lions utility Brent Staker may need a second knee reconstruction this season after scans showed damage to his right knee on Monday.

Staker sustained the injury against West Coast on Saturday night in a seemingly innocuous incident and limped from the field in the first quarter with his head in his hands.

The 27-year-old ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in round one against Fremantle and underwent LARS surgery, returning to the senior team in round 17 against Geelong.

But the former Eagle released the bad news on social network site Twitter on Monday afternoon.

"Not good news today. Scans look like that I will need another reco Thanks again for everyone's support Will keep u all in the loop#shattered."

Staker was playing the sixth match of his comeback before suffering the injury.

More to come.
