I had guys like ‘Buddy’ Franklin, Marc Murphy, Travis Cloke and Brendan Goddard tear it up, while my Lions boys also gave me good service.
So I was feeling pretty confident until I realised that my score still ranked in the bottom half of the Lions’ League. There’s around 430 people in the Lions’ Dream Team group - and I’m coming 263rd!
Looks like I’m going to need to lift to challenges guys like Dave, Stephen, Chris, Johnnie and Michael who all racked up more than 2,200 points.
The question is, where am I going to find those extra 400 points?
I mentioned last week that I was dishing up between Rockliff and Redden for that last spot in my midfield.
I can now reveal that I ended up going for Reddo in what ended up being a toss-of-the-coin decision.
As it turns out, Rocky made me pay by being our top scorer with 130 points. He got 23 possessions, took 10 marks and kicked three goals five - imagine if he had’ve kicked straight and finished with eight!
And how good was Blacky?
The guy turns 33 tomorrow and was as good as ever last Saturday. You can’t help but be in awe of any player who can stay among the AFL elite for more than a decade.
Back to my team, and I hope all you Lions fans got on Mitch Golby last week. He’s a ripper and showed some real quality against the Demons. With 77 points, he was the third highest scoring player in my Dream Team’s backline.

It’s probably easy to jump the gun and get rid of someone you weren’t entirely happy with in Round One. So it’s worth taking a deep breath and sticking fat with who you’ve got in the meantime.
