The Brisbane Lions AFC wishes to advise the Club suspension handed down to third-year player Albert Proud on Wednesday 4 February 2009 has been completed and he will be playing in the Round Two NAB Cup match against Essendon this Friday night at Telstra Dome in Melbourne.

Following the Lions' own investigation he has been disciplined in accordance with the Club's Code of Conduct for breaching the standards of behaviour expected from all Brisbane Lions players.

The Lions and AFL view this matter extremely seriously and have consulted heavily to arrive at appropriate Club-imposed penalties.

Proud remains deeply regretful over the incident that resulted in an injury to a female patron at a Gold Coast bar in late January this year.

The matter is still subject to criminal proceedings so the Club is unable to make any further comment.
