BRISBANE Lions coach Michael Voss said losing full forward Daniel Bradshaw was all part of business and everyone should move on.
After being used as bait to lure Brendan Fevola from Carlton during trade week, a disgruntled Bradshaw has nominated for the NAB AFL Pre-season Draft and is expected to be taken by the Sydney Swans with their No.5 pick.
While youngster Lachlan Henderson was eventually traded to the Blues in exchange for Fevola, Bradshaw, who kicked 496 goals in the maroon, blue and gold over a distinguished career, packed his bags and left.
Speaking at the Lions' pre-season training camp at Noosa on Queensland's Sunshine Coast on Wednesday, Voss said in an ideal world Bradshaw would still be at the club.
“He's chosen a different direction. Like him ... we should move on and that's where we sit right now,” Voss said.
The professional AFL environment dictated that players and clubs had to part ways, Voss said.
Bradshaw played in two premierships for the Lions and formed one of the most feared forward lines in the competition with captain Jonathan Brown.
With Fevola joining the mix for 2010, the trio were expected to comprise a forward line without peer.
“The rules of the matter say in our industry that we have to delist three players every year. If we're happy with the 40 or so on our list it doesn't matter, we have to delist three,'' he said.
“The system says there's going to be changes, there's going to be things that happen, that players move on.
“I understand the sensitivity of things like that but as a coach you make decisions on what you think the best direction of the football club is and we've chosen this direction and Braddy has moved on. It's disappointing.
“We've certainly moved on and the players have moved on. Anything I've seen in the last 24 hours has suggested we're getting on with business and that's essentially what it's about now, it's about focussing on 2010 not what's happened in 2009.”
