IT'S NO surprise Brisbane Lions midfielder Jack Redden is developing into one of the competition's best young talents when he has the experience of three triple-premiership midfielders to draw upon.

Teammate Simon Black and coach Michael Voss were both part of the Lions' 'Fab Four' midfield that terrorised opposition teams during the club's premiership run from 2001 to 2003.

While another teammate of Redden's, Luke Power was also an integral part of the Lions' golden era.

Since being drafted at No.25 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, Redden has tried to learn as much as possible from Black and Power.

New Hall of Fame inductee, Voss, has also been an important mentor to the 20-year-old midfielder.

"I've learnt so much from Voss. Just the way he went about it and how hard he was at the footy is very inspiring," Redden told lions.com.au.

"We all congratulated him during the week, he was such a good player."

Voss' hardness at the football has definitely rubbed off on Redden with the youngster ranked third in the league for tackles.

Redden led the club in tackles with 115 in 2010, and this season is averaging eight tackles per game, a trait that has impressed his coach.

"[His tackle count] sort of shows the work rate that he's got and he's certainly evolving very fast as a midfielder," Voss said.

"He's got a great size and he's running very hard so his work load is enormous."

As he has been all year, Redden was a shining light in the Lions' 61-point loss to Carlton on Sunday.

He had a career-high 32 disposals, five clearances and five tackles, eclipsing his previous career-best performance against Richmond in round six this year of 28 touches, eight tackles and a goal.

With just the two wins for the season, the Lions are clearly struggling but as long as they keep developing youngsters like Redden, Todd Banfield, Tom Rockliff and Jared Polec, the club's future is sure to be bright.
