The Brisbane Lions’ HBA Lions Alliance Program is in full operation with various sporting clubs already benefiting from providing local marketing support for the Club in return for Lions and HBA branded rewards.

Over the month of April four AFL clubs were rewarded with signed HBA footballs, match worn Lions Guernseys and HBA playing shorts, signed mini-footballs and Lions supporter packs containing caps, team posters, stickers, fixture magnets, temporary tattoos, magazines and more.

Many of the high-end items will now be raffled or auctioned to raise valuable funds for these footy clubs, or offered to individuals to reward their efforts or encourage greater participation in AFL, Auskick and other healthy and active sporting initiatives.

The HBA Lions Alliance Program is available to all registered community and charity organisations even though AFL clubs have been first out of the blocks with their written applications to the Lions.

Here is a summary of the four successful AFL club applications:

The Narangba Australian Football Club near Caboolture north of Brisbane purchased four Brisbane Lions season tickets to reward their sponsors and volunteers in return for a team signed HBA football. They also distributed Young Lions membership application forms, stickers and Lions Gabba rewards passports to all players at their annual sign-on day.

One clan from the Highland Lions Australian Football Club purchased a Lions family season membership to bring three players along with them to attend each Gabba home game. Being from a rural area, this is a treat that most of the local juniors would not be able to experience without this opportunity. The club also recently hosted an Auskick Challenge game between two schools participating in the Auskick program. In return, the club received a pair of signed HBA footy shorts and the family were sent a match worn Lions Guernsey.

New South Wales’ Northern Lakes Power Junior Australian Football Club devised a program to encourage kids to learn how to umpire AFL matches. Their Under 12s recently won their first game in three years and all the club’s coaches recently obtained their Level One coaching accreditation. As a reward for helping to groom the next generation of AFL umpires and for showing youth what life was like on the other side of the whistle, HBA and the Lions sent them special supporter packs to distribute amongst their juniors.

The Alexandra Hills Junior Australian Football Club near Cleveland on Brisbane’s southside has a weekly Lions Fan of the Week competition which awards a player who publically demonstrates the most support for the Brisbane Lions. These weekly nominations culminate in a Lions Fan of the Year award at the end of the season. HBA and the Lions have rewarded this enterprise by supplying a mini-football signed by the Lions’ four co-captains for the major end-of-year prize and Lions supporter packs for the weekly prize winners.

To apply for rewards like the four successful candidates above, simply download and complete a HBA Lions Alliance Rewards Application Form and send it to the Lions for evaluation. In this document you should outline your local marketing ideas and activities for promoting HBA and the Brisbane Lions in your community.

These forms are available from the Lions website at www.lions.com.au in the Community section under HBA Lions Alliance (see the home page’s top maroon menu bar) or you can request a copy from the Lions Membership team by calling 07 3335 1777 or email lionsalliance@lions.com.au

Good luck and thank you HBA!
