The Brisbane Lions will move quickly to bolster its list for 2013 following Kurt Tippett’s nomination of Sydney as his destination of choice.

Tippett, a Gold Coast product, on Saturday informed both the Lions and Suns of his intention to seek a trade from Adelaide to Sydney after several weeks contemplating his future.

Following Kurt Tippett’s nomination of Sydney as his preferred destination, Lions National Talent Manager, Rob Kerr, said today:

“Once Kurt signalled his intention to come home to Queensland, the Club put to him an extremely appealing offer, however, we understood it was going to be difficult to compete financially with Sydney given the additional salary cap space that is provided to them,” said Kerr.

“We’ll now watch with interest how the trade discussions progress.

“With so many exciting, young players emerging together at the Lions, we also didn’t want to compromise any pending negotiations.

“Fortunately we have a number of options still available to us that will enable the Club to strengthen its list for 2013 and we’ll quickly shift our focus towards that.”
