The Brisbane Lions AFC today agreed to release utility Jared Brennan to sign with the Gold Coast as an uncontracted player as part of a trade deal struck between both clubs that is expected to be finalised in the coming days.

Under AFL rules, the Gold Coast were allowed to sign a second uncontracted player from the Lions with consent from both the Club and Brennan.

Final details of the agreed exchange between the Lions and the Gold Coast will be confirmed before Monday's trade deadline.

Brennan departs the Lions after playing 119 games and kicking 75 goals in eight seasons with the Club.

He was an AFL Rising Star Nominee in 2003, was the Lions' second leading goal-kicker in 2007 and represented Australia in the 2008 International Rules Series.

The Lions would like to thank Jared for his contribution to the Club.
